Contexte : 

  1. In my exchange I setup one email account (odoo@mydomain.com) with ALIAS : alias1, alias2
  2. In odoo > Settings > Technical > Incoming Mail Servers, I added + confirm this email account odoo@mydomain.com
  3. In Expenses app configuration > I setup new alias alias1@mydomain.com : 
  4. by the way in odoo > Settings > Technical > Alias > alias1 still have alias Status "Not Tested" : 
  5. Then I send an email to alias1@mydomain.com , it is well received by my email account, it seems it is even "read" by odoo, but it never create new "expenses" : 

This is headers of sent email :

Content-Transfer-Encoding: binary

From: person1@mydomain.com (note : it is me, and it exist as odoo authenticated user)

To: alias1@mydomain.com

Question :why odoo can read email but cannot detect that "To" is to alias to create new "expense entry"

To start the debug process, is the expense created when you send email to default expense@mydomain.odoo.com? And when you sent email to alias, has "Not Tested" changed to "Tested" (that means odoo has message)?

please apologize, i updated topic. It is onpremise , i do not have (odoo . com email)

Hello,

There could be several possible reasons for this issue I believe. However, if you are using Microsoft 365 by chance, email aliases may not work as expected. M365 often rewrites emails sent to alias1@mydomain.com and delivers them internally as odoo@mydomain.com, treating odoo@mydomain.com as the actual recipient.

As a result, Odoo only sees the email as being sent from person1@mydomain.com to odoo@mydomain.com, and the original alias information is lost.

In my case I ended up this by using a Microsoft 365 group instead. For example, I created a group like group1@mydomain.com and added odoo@mydomain.com as a member of that group.

no, im not using m365, im using microsoft exchange (onpremise on our provider).
Maybe what you say is same for exchange... Normally If I manage to have "headers on received email" I can see if something is changed...
Onpremise exchange, i doupt i can manage any "group"...

Maybe someone else experienced this too ?
