Hi There,

We have an automated form that creates a task in a project and we want to be able to auto-assign our internal users to the tasks. I can't find a work around for this anywhere.

An automated rule can assign newly created tasks to users. Create the rule on Task model right after creation to update the record.

Hi,

This can be achieved using an Automated Action.

1. Go to Settings → Technical → Automation → Automated Actions.
2. Create a new automated action:
Model: Project Task
Trigger:On Creation (Record Created)
  Add any filter conditions if the assignment should only apply to specific projects or tasks.
3. Set the action to Update Record
4. Update the Assignees(`user_ids`) field (or Responsible (`user_id`) depending on your setup) with the desired internal user(s).
5. Save and activate the automation.

Whenever a new task is created by the form, Odoo will automatically assign the specified user.

Automatic task assignment depends entirely on your specific allocation strategy and the business rules you want to enforce. I have worked with automated task allocation in Odoo 16 using specific rules for team distribution, and I used a module called xopgi_allocation from the app store to handle it.
