We are missing a functionality, which is present in most of the modern webshops:

Showing the different variants (attributes) in the webshop as small images for the selection of the variant. We are dealing with wool and a lot of color variations. The display type "hex color" is not sufficient, as it would be very hard to match exactly the color of the wool. Only an image is mor or less accurate. We know that there are many modules and themes out there, which are covering this feature. But in all solutions we found it's needed to upload two images then: one for the variation and one for the attribute. In our case both pictures are actually the same.

So for us a display type: "show variation image" would make the most sense in the attribute settings.

Does anybody know such a module or a good workaround for our problem?

Thanks, for your reply. Yes, I also see that there could be an issue with multiple attributes and permutations. But normally you would like to have this option only on one attribute (e.g. showing images for the "color" attribute). Best would be to solve it over the display type in attribute settings (add an option "variation image").

And yes,it's possible to have multiple images in a variant product. But the attribute image could always be the main image of the variation (and not using the additional media).

What do you mean with:  "It can be solved with minor ecommerce customization. " ?

Hey Kaj,

I know this is missing feature. less explored but certainly needed for the any apparal business.
The reason behind is - there are multiple permutations of variants in case we have more than 1 variant attribute. 
Odoo supports different variant images in the backend. the Only feature to be extended is to load that on the eCommerce product details view.

It can be solved with minor ecommerce customization.
