Mukti Cox’s Bazar was founded in the aftermath of the devastating 1991 cyclone, when a group of teachers, lawyers, social workers, and community leaders came together to support shelter-less and vulnerable people in the Cox’s Bazar district. Their early efforts included emergency relief, construction of low-cost housing, and the establishment of a primary school for disadvantaged children. Formal development activities began in 1996 with a mission to serve underprivileged communities, particularly women, by addressing poverty, illiteracy, and social injustice.
