How to remove "view invoice" button from emails on Odoo 18 Online

Hi, I can't find a way to get rid of the button "view invoice" in the email template "Invoice: Sending".

Already tried to edit the code in the template but it doesn't show a section for this button, only the part that start below.

In Odoo 18, the "View Invoice" button in invoice emails comes from the mail template associated with the invoice. Here's how to remove it:

**Method 1: Edit the Mail Template (No Code)**

1. Go to **Settings → Technical → Email → Templates**

2. Search for the template named **"Invoice: Sending"** (or `account.email_template_edi_invoice`)

3. Edit the **Body HTML** and remove the button markup — look for something like:

```html

<a t-att-href="ctx.get('portal_url')" ...>View Invoice</a>

```

4. Save.

**Method 2: If you're on Odoo Online (SaaS)**

Since you mentioned **Odoo 18 Online**, you likely don't have full technical menu access. Try this:

1. Enable **Developer Mode** (Settings → scroll down → Activate Developer Mode)

2. Then navigate to **Settings → Technical → Email → Templates**

3. Find `account.email_template_edi_invoice` and edit the body

If the button is rendered via a sub-template or `_portal_link` mechanism rather than inline HTML, look in the template body for:

...button markup...

</t>

```

Remove or comment out the relevant block.

**Important note for Odoo Online:** You cannot create custom modules, but you *can* edit mail templates through the UI. However, be aware that Odoo updates may reset your changes on the SaaS platform. Document what you changed so you can re-apply after upgrades.

**Method 3: Override via Studio (if available)**

If you have the Studio app, you can sometimes customize email templates more safely, though for this specific case, direct template editing is more reliable.

After editing, send a test invoice email to yourself to verify the button is gone.

In Odoo 18 Online, the “View Invoice” button in the Invoice: Sending email is usually automatically generated by Odoo to give customers portal access to their invoice. Because of this, it may not appear directly in the editable HTML of the email template, which is why you cannot see it in the code.

On Odoo Online (SaaS), removing this button through the template editor is generally not supported, since it is injected by the system. Possible workarounds include adjusting portal/payment settings or modifying the email flow, but full control typically requires customization (available on Odoo.sh or On-Premise environments).

This is built using a dynamic method from the backend, but you can change it from here. However, please keep in mind that this template is also used by other modules. Also check the condition inside view code

Views → Mail: Mail Notification Layout Template -> find button_access
