Just recently we introduced open erp in our small manufacturing facility and are very happy with it. We have finished categorizing all our products but have created a parent category "Misc" by accident. We have created it on the same level as "All products" and would like to delete this category. So far we were only able to rename it. Is there a way to delete an empty product category completely?

You can delete it from:
Sales > Sales > Configuration > Products > Product Categories
Thank you for the quick reply. I found this answer also on a different forum but as the other poster wrote there is no option to to click on Configuration in the tab Sales. I have only the options "Customers", "Quotations", "Sales Orders" and "Products".
Try to activate the technical features. It's on setting - user - current user (ex admin) - Access Rights.
