For example, in the jewelry industry, it is common to reuse silver or gold scraps to create new jewelry. The leftover material is collected and melted down to restart the manufacturing process.

Similarly, in the cosmetics industry, leftover mixtures can sometimes be reused in another production batch. Likewise, in the food industry, surplus ingredients may be repurposed in new production cycles to minimize waste and maximize efficiency.

In Odoo, this process is managed through the following steps:

Initial Setup

1. Enable Multi-Step Routes
   • Go to Settings > Inventory > Warehouse and activate Multi-step routes.

2Configure Manufacturing with Two Steps

• Go to Inventory > Warehouses, select the relevant warehouse, and set manufacturing to:
  • Pick components, then manufacture (2 steps).

Modify the route to enable the use of product in the Pre-Production location, the supply method should be Take From Stock, if unavailable, Trigger Another Rule .

Set Pre-Production as a Scrap Location

• Go to Inventory > Locations, select Pre-Production, and define it as a Scrap Location.

Process for Managing Scrap Reuse

1. Create a Manufacturing Order

2 Pick and Validate Components

• Go to Transfers and validate the selected components.

3 Manage Scrap in the Shop Floor App

• To manage the reuse of the scrap, use the add components feature in the shop floor app and use less of the component for that specific manufacturing, since you moved all components to WH/PreProduction they will remain there.

4 Complete the Manufacturing Order

• Only the usable components will be consumed, while the scrapped ones will be recorded in the designated scrap location (WH/PreProduction).

5 Reuse Scrap in Future Production Orders

• When creating a new manufacturing order, the components stored in pre-production can be reused in the process, the new manufacturing order will take what is left in WH/PreProduction

Final Considerations

• Upon closing the manufacturing order, only one component was consumed, while two were managed as scrap.
• When reviewing the scrapped products' location, they were stored in wh/pre-production.
• In future production orders, scrap can be retrieved from the pre-production location and reintegrated into the manufacturing process.
