I am new to Odoo; I just installed odoo 11 on ubuntu and now want to configure pycharm; can someone please guide me through steps.

As you have installed odoov11, check out this Run odoo using pycharm and see how to run odoo using pycharm. The blog is of odoo10, but you can follow similar procedure.
