Thank you. I succeed in save my database thanks to postgres tool (pg_dump) on my server station (openerp v5 ubuntu). A big file without extension has been generated.

When i try to restore this database on my temporary server (v6/windows 7) via manager database openerp v6 tool, i have again a error message saying "impossible to restore the database".

1/When i save a db from my openerp v5 (ubuntu), am i obliged to use a the openERPmanagerDB or i can also use postgresql tools like pgadmin or pg_dump? 2/ For restoring, the file must be in For resauration, the file must be in what format?

It's not really that the postgres dump file is bad, it's that some core tables have changed, so newer OpenERP versions are unable to process them.

For example, new to v7 is the lack of res_partner_address - everything is just res_partner (and res_users). The basic structure of the model is different, so a direct import of an old database dump will not work. Even if it did, you'd be missing a bunch of data.

Hello. Ok. I just installed a temporary openerp v5 all in one on my windows station. But it's always the same thing. I can't browse a dump file saved from my old linux ubuntu server (openerp v5 also) thanks to postgrestools(pg_dump). Why? these are the same versions of the software. I have this error message saying : the db can't be restored.
