In the General settings / Email what is the best way to setup the email alias domain? For example, is my company's domain name is "mycompany.com", should this be used as the Alias Domain in openerp7

Yes domain name is "mycompany.com"
Theirs quiet a bit of good information on aliases already out their - see this for example... Sorry cannot post links my Karma is still at 'scumbag level'! - Just search "email" or "alias"
You can also try the old forum again just search "email" or "alias"
