Mercedes-Benz Egypt selects local partner for assembling cars: Mercedes-Benz Egypt partnered with the Egyptian German Automotive Company (EGA) to assemble cars in Egypt. The contract was given to EGA after meeting the company’s standards and production requirements, the statement said. No details were provided on the value of the contract.
The first car should be completed in the second half of 2020, the German auto manufacturer said, adding that production will focus on SUVs that are not yet available in the Egyptian market. Mercedes-Benz Egypt last week added Abou Ghaly Motors, Ezz El Arab and German Auto Service to its retail network in Egypt.
It was founded by engineer Samy Saad and the former Daimler-Benz CEO Jürgen Erich Schrempp as a joint venture to assemble vehicles of the Mercedes-Benz brand. The management of the 1996 founded firm is assumed by the Daimler AG who has given it to Markus Schäfer. As of 2015, following the political and economic turmoil in Egypt, assembly of Mercedes-Benz passenger cars has ceased. Ha-Be was founded in 1970 as a construction materials testing laboratory. The building material testing department, however, has become an independent business unit of Ha-Be. Having an own production plant, we are capable of responding to customers’ requirements in the short term and ensuring an on-schedule accomplishment. For coloured concrete, the product range includes liquid colours (slurries) and powdered pigments.
