Portal User Access for Groups

can we assign Portal users to groups? If yes, which type of groups allow us to add Portal users?

Yes, we can assign portal users to groups.
Go to Settings -> Groups after enabling debug mode. Then assign the user to the group. You can close the internal users filter to assign portal users to the group.
