Odoo is here and AI is here ... no reason to wait. There are already certain developments, that are more than promissing. https://github.com/rosenvladimirov/odoo-claude-mcp & https://github.com/rosenvladimirov/odoo-mcp-terminal (the terminal seems to have also back compatibility with older versions Odoo 16 to recent version!).

I am using Odoo Claude MCP and can do operations directly in Odoo without opening Odoo. It works amazingly.

In practice, there’s no strong reason to wait for Odoo 20. While future versions may introduce more native AI features, robust and production-ready AI automation can already be implemented today using Odoo’s API framework combined with external AI services (e.g., for data extraction, chat assistants, workflow automation, etc.).

• AI-driven data entry automation (emails, documents, invoices)
• Smart assistants within Odoo context
