In 17, we revamped that feature but you can do the same with the help of the product document option "visibility"

1) Install in apps: digital products
2) On your product form a new tab appears: Digital Files
You can then add any type of file you want to your product
3) Grant portal access to your customer. Once they have purchased and fully paid their invoice on their sales order a button will appear for "download' where they will be able to download the files you have attached to your products.
