Is it possible to add a batch of attendees, or have an invite-only registration option?
We already have a registration/POS platform that our organization umbrella makes us use, but we'd love to use Odoo for the event portion.

Yes, you can import attendees from xls.
On the event click "Attendees" smart button and you will have the option 'import records' in Favorites menu right below the search bar.
If you going to have the registered users already in Odoo, then you might have to export the registered users (external ID) and then import
