Madras Gymkhana Club is an institution of 140 years old, established for promoting Sports, Social and Cultural activities. Its portals have, over the years, welcomed thousands of members of various countries, citizenships, religious, social and economic backgrounds, encompassing all who entered with equal warmth and fellowship. To this day, it is a multi-hued, sporting and cultural institution with over 4,000 members drawn from every walk of life. It acts as a vital bond between the armed forces and the civilian populace of Chennai, managed by an elected committee and nominated service officers, encouraging social interaction through a wide range of activities. The multi-social nature of the club has automatically admitted members through hierarchy, institutional sponsorship, independent ladies, and long term temporary members to accommodate the floating business executive, apart from the members of the garrison who are stationed on duty or have retired and are permanent residents of the city.
