We've recently created a product.

We have a product template for the item as it can be configured in many ways.

Diameter, Length, Head Type etc

Currently we have 442 variants but in future would like many more. 

We updated the cost prices  for each variant in the excel sheet before import. 

We then tried to markup the items with a price list in our NZD Retail Price Lists, this works fine to achieve a sales price only. ( this is what we want, quick dynamic way to manage sales price  without need for bulk update sales price in a excel sheet )

We then want to apply 5 different quantity breaks which discount the sales price of the product variants. the price always goes to 0 after the qty of the first price break is achieved as the sales price is dynamic and not an input number that we've put into the product variant manually.  The only way I can achieve similar functionality is by making extra price lists and decreasing my markup per quantity. but then no discount value is shown on the product page which is a nice feature. its clean for customers this way what they can save on larger purchases.

As far as I know this multi price list method is not going to work since the quantity break price lists are trying to use the sales price field which doesn't have a value since its being calculated with the markup price list for that product category. which means we need to potentially calculate the markup sales price inside excel and then import all the products with cost and sales price. 

I've tried to do this also. I deleted all the price lists to begin with. 

Updated the sales prices in the excel and imported, but all that happens is that the highest sales price of $12 gets applied to each variant, we are using a import export compatible sheet with ID number for each variant. combination. 

No matter what I try its all far to difficult and clunky. we are looking for an expert in this area, I would like to manage this all and learn if there is a specific process to achieve what we are wanting to do, Happy to pay for services of course.

Example below showing all sales prices go to the highest sales price in the list. Updating the cost price wasn't an issue at all.
