• Make login/signup mandatory and capture the customer’s date of birth
• Add a system check at checkout to block underage users
• For stronger control, integrate an external age verification service (ID check)
• You can also add a warning + legal confirmation checkbox for extra compliance

This way, you move from a simple popup to a more controlled and compliant process.

The standard “Are you 18+?” popup in Odoo is only a disclaimer. A customer can click “Yes” without any verification, so it is not enough if you need real age control for alcohol sales.

A better solution in Odoo is:

1. Add a mandatory Date of Birth field during registration or checkout.
2. Block checkout automatically if the customer is under the required age (18, 21, etc.).
3. Save the verified age status on the partner/customer record.
4. Optionally require an ID upload (passport, driver's license, national ID) and approve the customer manually before allowing orders.
