I am getting (as well as other users) the following error:


Odoo Client Error

UncaughtPromiseError

Uncaught Promise


This happens when trying the edit/change a template block or some elements on the website builder.

Our administrator user does not have any issues, we should not need admin rights.

Its only affecting the users set as Editor and Designer for website app.


We have updated from V18.3 to V18.4, V18.3 had no issues.


Is this a bug in 18.4


UPDATE:

Error is now the following for the "Editor and Designer" users:


Access Error

You do not have enough rights to access the field "visibility_password" on View (ir.ui.view). Please contact your system administrator. Operation: read User: 13 Groups: allowed for groups 'Role / Administrator'

To grant the missing access rights:

  1. Activate Developer Mode → Settings → General Settings → Developer Mode.

  2. Go to Settings → Technical → Database Structure → Models.

    • Search for ir.ui.view.

  4. Open Access Rights tab.

    • Add a new rule for the group Website Editor/Designer (or the group you’re using).

    • Allow Read access at minimum.

Save and reload — Editors/Designers should now be able to edit website blocks.

Hi,


This error happens because Editors/Designers don’t have read rights on the visibility_password field in ir.ui.view. Admins don’t see the error because they have full access.


Fix:


    Go to Settings → Users & Companies → Groups


    Open Website/Editor (and Website/Designer if needed)


    In Access Rights, give Read access on ir.ui.view


    Save, then have users log out/in


Workaround: Temporarily add the user to Administration/Settings until proper permissions are set.


Odoo 18.4 tightened security on website views, which unintentionally blocked non-admin editors.


After applying, Editors/Designers should be able to edit websites again without errors.

Hi,

We have tried to follow your instruction, but the ir.ui.view does not appear in the groups you have stated,
we tried to add it manually and still could not select it. I've sent a support ticket to Odoo also as it only became an issue in 18.4 when changes were made to the access rights.
