In Odoo v17, each branch automatically gets its own warehouse, and this is intentional design.

Why does Odoo create a new warehouse for each branch?

Odoo treats each branch as a separate operational entity, even if all branches belong to the same company.

Because of this, Odoo keeps things separated such as:

• Inventory operations

• Stock valuation

• Accounting flows

• Reporting per branch

To keep these processes clear and controlled, Odoo assigns a separate warehouse to each branch.

Can different branches use exactly the same warehouse record?

No.

Odoo is not designed for multiple branches to share one identical warehouse record.

Each branch must have its own warehouse configuration in the system.

What if you physically have only ONE warehouse?

This is a common real-world situation (multiple brands under one roof). You have two practical options:

Option 1 — Use Inter-Warehouse Routes (Recommended)

• Keep separate warehouses per branch (as Odoo expects).

• Create routes and rules to transfer stock between them.

• Stock may physically stay in one place, but Odoo tracks it separately for each branch.

Benefits:

• Clean accounting

• Clear reporting per brand

• Works well with Odoo’s design

Option 2 — Use One Warehouse with Internal Locations

If:

• Inventory is truly shared

• You don’t need strict stock separation per branch

Then you can:

• Use a single warehouse

• Create internal locations for each brand

This is simpler but may not match full branch-level reporting needs.
