We are considering moving away from our WHMCS and Kashflow systems and bringing them all together under Odoo. Prior to us doing that we would like to evaluate the Invoicing and Accounting modules to ensure that they will meet our requirements. Have considered that we would install the Community release on a new server, but wish to ask that if all goes well can we then upgrade that instance to the Enterprise version ? Or would we somehow need to export the data and import ?

You should be able to upgrade to entreprise just adding addons-path to enterprise folder and restarting with -u web. To see All features of enterprise You çan make a trial online! Or try to find a partner which çan give You a demo!
We've been running the Community Edition for the last few months and now we're ready to transition to Enterprise Edition on-premises. We'd like to keep our existing database, and even our existing server (running on Ubuntu). Is there a supported or at least a documented procedure for putting our Enterprise Edition "over" our existing Community Edition migrate it?
