Hi there, I have a branch setup for a company and want a product cost entry generated everytime an invoice is created or the product is delivered. 

Currently in the main company, the product cost entry is generated when an invoice is created. 

What am I missing here?

Thanks for your answer. That worked and the Anglo Saxon accounting option is now been moved to perpetual invoicing. But the method you described worked.

Hi,

1. Anglo-Saxon Accounting Setting (Most Common Cause)
If your main company has Anglo-Saxon accounting enabled, COGS is posted at invoice time. If the branch doesn't have it enabled, no cost entry is generated on invoicing.
Go to: Branch Company → Accounting → Settings → Anglo-Saxon Accounting → Enable it.

2. Inventory Valuation on Product Category
The product category must be set to Automated valuation, not Manual.
Go to: Inventory → Configuration → Product Categories

Make sure the category used by the product has:

Costing Method: Standard Price / Average Cost / FIFO
Inventory Valuation: Automated

If it's set to Manual, Odoo won't automatically generate any accounting entries.

3. Accounts Not Configured on the Product Category for the Branch
Even if valuation is automated, if the accounts aren't set for the branch company, Odoo silently skips the entry.
Check that the product category has these accounts configured for the branch company context.

    Account Stock Valuation
    Account Stock Input (Stock Interim Received)
    Account Stock Output (Stock Interim Delivered)
    Expense Account (COGS)

In Odoo 17, when you open a product category while your active company is the branch, the account fields should show branch-specific accounts.
