Hello everyone,
We are looking for the standard Odoo approach in version 18 for a multi-company warehouse setup.
We have two companies in the same database moving into the same building. They will share the same physical warehouse, shelves, pallet rack locations, and day-to-day warehouse operations. However, stock ownership, traceability, valuation, and accounting must still remain separated by company.
Our main question is whether standard Odoo supports this with one shared warehouse, or whether best practice is to create one warehouse per company.
A practical concern is space usage. If warehouse locations are split between Company A and Company B, and Company A has empty pallet locations while Company B is short on space, we would ideally like to use those empty locations instead of leaving them unused. Can standard Odoo handle this while still keeping ownership and accounting separated correctly by company?
We want to stay as close to standard Odoo as possible, avoid custom development, and keep the setup upgrade-safe.
Has anyone handled this in standard Odoo, and what setup would you recommend?
Hello
You cannot truly share one warehouse (locations) across companies in standard Odoo.
Standard Odoo requires separate warehouses per company, even in the same building.
True shared storage across companies is not supported without redesigning the business flow (intercompany or single logistics entity).
Hope this helps
Thanks
