Hello
If you are using the Odoo Online plan, there is no need to separately inform Odoo before upgrading.
→ Odoo recommends first upgrading the database to a test version. Once you have successfully tested and verified all data and workflows in the test database, you can proceed with upgrading the production database.
→ Please note that during the production upgrade process, the database will not be accessible until the upgrade is completed.
→ Also, once the database is upgraded to a higher version, it is not possible to revert to the previous version, so it is recommended to keep a backup/export of important data before proceeding.

The exact duration can still vary slightly depending on server load and database activity at the time of the upgrade, so it is better to keep some additional buffer time planned.
Odoo recommend planning the upgrade at a time when the use of the database is minimal.
