Hello there,


I'm looking into using Analytic accounting with a hierarchy structure of plans and subplans (e.g. Product Lines -> Products, or Regions -> Countries). But I couldn't find any option of linking the Analytical Account of a Subplan (e.g. a country) to a "parent" Analytical Account (e.g. a region).


Am I missing something here or is that really not possible?

Hi Ciro,

I haven't solved it at all. Most likely I will use an external software, as Odoo falls short of being the all-in-one solution they promise to be in so many areas.

Unfortunately not. The question is NOT about the basic usage of Analytic accounting.

It's specifically about creating a hierarchy of Plans and Subplans in such a way, that you can allocate e.g. a cost to a Subplan, but then report on it either on Subplan or Plan level.

I hope you are doing well, 

Odoo doesn't support Plan/Subplan hierarchy natively. However, you can achieve hierarchical reporting using parent/child Analytic Accounts within a single Plan.

  Solution:
  1. Create one Plan: "Geography"
  2. Create parent account: "Europe" (no parent)
  3. Create child accounts: "France", "Germany" with Parent = "Europe"
  4. Allocate costs to child accounts (France, Germany)
  5. Reporting: Odoo automatically rolls up child account costs to parent accounts in analytic reports

 Result: You allocate to "France" (subplan level) but can report on "Europe" (plan level) with automatic aggregation. This achieves your goal of hierarchical cost allocation and
 multi-level reporting.

Hello Alain 

Odoo sub analytic account is little confusing. here is a simple explanation of how you can use it. 

Create Analytic Plan e.g. Department 
Create Sub Plan
- Marketing 
- Human Resource 

Create Analytic Account and assign them to the sub plan.

e.g. 
Digital Marketing -> Marketing 
Stationary -> Human Resource 

Now create a Vendor bill and assign the analytic distribution as follow 

Vendor Bill line 
Transportation - Cost 1000
Analytic Distribution 
Digital Marketing - 50%
Stationary - 50% 

To view the report. Go to Analytic Reporting 
From left side click on the Plus icon next to the total and Select The department. It should ask to select one of the subplan. Select one of them and it should break down the cost by sub plan.
