I want to make some changes to the format of the sales order portal for my customers.


I was told I should be editing the XML in Settings>Technical>Views>Sales Order Portal Content. There is a warning that I should not be editing the record directly as any future Odoo updates would revert the changes.


Can someone PLEASE explain how to create a duplicate/new version that won't get overwritten? It mentions inheriting views. 


I would really appreciate some guidance. I am running Odoo hosted in the cloud.
