In Odoo 16 Enterprise, for language Portuguese (pt_PT), we set the Thousands Separator to "." in Settings → Languages, but number formatting is not affected (e.g. 1000000 is not shown as 1.000.000).

 We have already verified that the language is active and assigned to the user.

Any idea why this is ignored?

I hope you are doing well

Fix: Settings → Languages → Portuguese (pt_PT):
- Decimal Separator = ,
- Thousands Separator = .
- Separator Format = [3,0] ← the missing piece

Then refresh/relogin (formatting is ormcached, cleared on write). [3,0] → 1.000.000.

Hi,

In Odoo 16, the Thousands Separator configured on the language record is not always used by the web client. Number formatting is often determined by the locale definitions (Babel/CLDR) associated with the user's language (pt_PT).

Make sure:

    Ensure the user's language is set to Portuguese (Portugal) - pt_PT and not another Portuguese variant such as pt_BR.
    Log out and log back in after changing the language settings, and clear the browser cache.
    Check whether the issue occurs everywhere or only in specific views/reports. Some reports and custom widgets may format numbers independently.
    Verify that no custom modules or JavaScript customizations are overriding number formatting.


If the issue persists, it is likely that Odoo is using the locale's predefined formatting rather than the manually configured separator values, which may require customization to change.
