For a manual inventory adjustment, looks like there isnt a journal entry created automatically. It did create auto journal entries in Odoo18. Is this feature removed?

If removed, how do I obtain this flow again in Odoo19?

This is the scenario. I am importing all the opening balances and stock level of a company. The balances are pretty simple but the stock amount. I did do physical inventory, but I cannot see the opening stock valuation amount anywhere on the ledgers and other acc reports.

Do I have to create it all manually?

It did set up AVCO costing method and Valuation method of Perpetual (At invoicing) on the product category level. So there's no mistake from my side at all.

Gotcha! But whats the "Opening Inventory" Feature you mentioned. I dont think there's any dedicated opening inventory feature, unless youre mentioning a third party app?

Thanks! I followed the new Odoo19 demo. Its mentioned there.
have to set the stock variation account on the Inventory Adjustment Location to the correct journal and set the valuation to perpetual.

Only then physical adjustment automatically creates a journal entry. Solved

If you are using Perpetual (at invoicing) as your Inventory Valuation Method it works exactly the same way.

  • the account you set on the Inventory Adjustment location is now called Inventory Variation
  • Odoo will generate a Journal Entry debiting Inventory Valuation and crediting Clearing

If you are using Periodic (at closing) as your Inventory Valuation Method, the value of your Inventory uploaded will show on the new Inventory Valuation report in the Review Menu in Accounting:

Click the Generate Entry button to have the Journal Entry created for you, the same one Odoo creates under the first method:

Note: here we created an Inventory Adjustment for a single Product with a Unit Price of $10 and a Quantity of 100.

Hi,

In Odoo 19, manual inventory adjustments no longer automatically create journal entries if the product category valuation is set to “Perpetual (At invoicing),” unlike Odoo 18 where such entries were sometimes generated. As a result, opening stock valuations from manual adjustments do not appear in ledgers or accounting reports. To restore the automatic flow, you can either change the product category valuation to “Perpetual (Automated)” so that inventory adjustments generate accounting entries, use the dedicated “Opening Inventory” feature to import stock balances, or create the journal entries manually for opening stock. This change ensures that stock value is only recorded when stock moves are linked to invoices, maintaining accurate accounting under the “At invoicing” method.
