I tried to change the language two or three times in a row, but on the fourth time the site encountered a 500 error.  

I can access the site only through the admin, and the public visitor will get a 500 error.  

What is the reason?

Hi,
"500 internal server error is a generic error", in order to understand the root cause of the issue, you have to check and see the log of the odoo instance. See if you will get some information regarding the error from the log or update the post with log details.
