In Odoo v16 I'm trying to translate my custom module as explained here https://www.cybrosys.com/blog/how-to-add-translation-to-the-custom-module-in-odoo-15

It is not working. Nothing is translated. As described here I exported translation for my module in PO File, edited it and then uploaded it again. For editing I used POedit. Upgraded module and nothing happens. Even tried to import translation without any luck.

In custom fields I also added translate=True which is giving me option to insert translation. I add translation for the field and it's not saved - not even showing up in Translate popup when I open it again.

Is there anything I'm missing here - should something in the process be changed? 

To translate XML reports I'm currently checking partner language and writing translation - takes more time and there is much more code than needed.
