Someone please help!

I am trying to install odoo v19 'lastest' version community edition as a EPOS for a restuarant.

I have a virgin installation of win 10 pro

No installation problems, however;

  1. It takes hours to install the restuarant 'app', is this normal?
  2. Once the restuarant app installs there is no clear way to access the app?
  3. Never used Odoo before, I can setup webservers and do network administration like no tomorrow, no clue on a system like this.
  4. Is there a manual I can read about the community edition?
  5. Or can someone point me in the direction of a really good youtube video?
  6. Or can someone give me an idiots list on what to do?

Hi Sebastian! Here is a practical guide to get your Restaurant POS running in Odoo 19 Community on Windows:

Why the installation takes so long:
Windows Defender and antivirus programs typically slow down Odoo installation by scanning each file. Temporarily disable real-time protection during install (re-enable after). Normal install time is 5-20 minutes.

How to access the Restaurant POS:
1. Open browser: http://localhost:8069
2. Log into your database
3. Look for Point of Sale on the home screen (Restaurant features are inside POS, not a separate app)
4. Go to Point of Sale > Configuration > Settings > find the Restaurant/Bar section and enable it

Basic Restaurant POS setup steps:
1. Enable Point of Sale app
2. In POS Settings, turn on Bar/Restaurant
3. Create Product Categories and Products (your food and drink menu with prices)
4. Set up Floor Plans (tables)
5. Configure Payment Methods
6. Click Open on the POS dashboard to start a session
