I started my digital marketing agency in 2022. I record my financials in an online google sheet, I just maintain the cash in and outflow and mention the description of the transaction. I want to to setup odoo account from the very first transaction i did in 2022, that includes recording the assets and expenses and everything from that day. Don't tell me the steps at the moment for making entries, just guide me how and from where i should start ?

If you're planning to set up Odoo Accounting from the very first transaction (e.g., from 2022), start by organizing your existing data into key accounting categories like income, expenses, assets, and liabilities. Then, define your opening balances and prepare your Chart of Accounts accordingly. Once structured, you can import your historical data into Odoo for accurate reporting and reconciliation.

Choose Your Odoo Version
Pick between Odoo Online (easy and hosted), Odoo.sh (flexible), or Community (free but needs setup).
Install the Accounting App
Go to Apps and install the Accounting/Invoicing module to get started with finance features.
Set Fiscal Year to 2022
In settings, allow posting from January 1, 2022, so you can enter your past records from when your agency started.
Organize Your Past Transactions
Go through your Google Sheet and group each cash inflow/outflow as income, expense, asset, etc.
Choose a Chart of Accounts
Select a default one for your country, or create simple categories like sales, software costs, office expenses, etc.
Get Opening Balances Ready
Write down your starting balances for bank, cash, any assets, and any money owed or owing as of your first 2022 entry.
Plan How to Enter Data
Decide if you'll type it in manually, import from a file, or get help from an accountant or Odoo expert.
