Dear Community,

I'm having a hard time understanding how the Sales and the POS reports are generated.  Does the Sales report also include the sales from the POS?  If not, what's the best way to view both reports on the same screen?  I'm familiar with Dashboard, but I believe the data for the Sales and POS aren't dynamic.  I would have to generate the dashboard every day, which is quite inefficient.  Do you know if there's any out-of-the-box solution to this?  I'd prefer not to complicate my setup by installing 3rd party apps.

Hi Ken.

I have also noticed that when I see the list of all customer payments (Accounting > Customers > Payments), I do no see any cash payments received through the POS. In fact, I can see the Card payments and other payment methods, just not the Cash payments. I believe this could be related to the same issue you are having.
Have you been able to find a solution for this?

Thank you!

Hi,

In Odoo, the Sales report and POS report are usually different reports.

The Sales report mainly shows data from the Sales module, like sales orders, quotations, customers, products, and invoices created from sales orders.

The POS report shows sales done from the Point of Sale module, like POS orders, sessions, payments, taxes, and cashier sales.

So, POS sales are not always shown in the Sales report in the same way, because POS has its own order and reporting flow.

For an out-of-the-box solution, you can check:

  1. Point of Sale → Reporting for POS sales and payments
  2. Sales → Reporting for sales order analysis
  3. Accounting → Reporting if you want to compare payments, invoices, journals, and daily sales amount
  4. Use Odoo Spreadsheet / Dashboard if you want to create a custom view, but yes, it may need refresh or setup depending on your version and data source.

If you want both Sales and POS data in one dynamic report, Odoo may not provide a perfect combined report by default. You may need to create a custom report, use Odoo Spreadsheet with live data, or make a small customization to combine POS orders and Sales orders in one screen.

Also, if your main need is related to POS order printing, receipt printing, or managing POS order print flow,

you can check this module:

https://apps.odoo.com/apps/modules/19.0/dev_pos_order_print

Hope this helps.

Allow me to explain a little deeper into the objective of the Sales/POS report that I'm looking to obtain.  We recently migrated from a POS software to Odoo ERP.  We audit our sales numbers against the payment methods, such as cash, card, gift cards, store account/credit, received at the end of each day.  Our old POS software made it very easy to see the sales for each day, as well as the breakdown of each payment method for auditing.  I'm trying to replicate the same in Odoo.

The way I audit my daily sales in Odoo v18 is by going into the POS App > Orders > Payments.  I then set the filter by date to be between 00:00:00 and 23:59:59 for the day.  At this screen it shows all the payment methods that have been made.  I entered all this data into an Excel file so that I can match the employee deposits as well as the credit card transactions.  As for the Sales payment, I go to the Accounting App > Customers > Payments.  I again have to filter the date to the current day.  I will need to verify every payment processed through the Sales App to ensure it's not coming from the POS payment recorded in the Sales App.

The above hack shows an accurate picture of our daily sales.  To illustrate how messy Odoo is, here's an example of a day's worth of sales:

From POS > Orders > Payments:  $8,298 (Cash, Store Account, Credit Cards, etc...)

From Accounting > Customers > Payments:  $3,548.82 (Cash, Store Account, Credit Cards, etc...)

Total:  $11,846.82

Meanwhile, the Sales Report only reports $8,298.00 for that day.

I'm not an accountant, but shouldn't the sales figure matches the payments received?

This leads me to the main question: Is there a report showing all the payments received in Sales & POS for the day?  If not, how can I create a dynamic dashboard?

Hi,

Odoo's Sales reports are generally designed to include sales data from the Point of Sale (POS) system, as the POS app integrates with other Odoo modules like Sales and Inventory. To view combined Sales and POS data, you can utilize Odoo's dashboard features, which allow for the creation of customized reports and data visualization through user-friendly pivot views with real-time updates. Additionally, the Point of Sale module offers its own reporting section where you can access statistics on orders in graph or pivot views, which can be filtered and grouped as needed.

To address concerns about dashboards not being dynamic, Odoo's business intelligence tools are built to provide real-time data updates. The Odoo Spreadsheet app, in particular, allows for the creation of dynamic reports by automatically incorporating data from your database into charts and spreadsheets, eliminating the need for constant manual updates. By leveraging Odoo's built-in reporting features, you should be able to group sales data by various categories and create combined reports or dashboards that pull data from both the Sales and POS modules without needing to install third-party apps.

Hope it helps

I’ve been dealing with a similar situation while managing sales and POS reports, especially when real-time updates don’t align with actual transactions. What really helps is keeping your configuration simple and ensuring each location syncs properly under one dashboard. Once everything is streamlined, the reports reflect more accurately and make tracking performance much easier.
