Lead not being created in CRM using Website forms

Question

I created a website form in Odoo with the action set to *“Create an Opportunity.”* When the form is submitted from the website, the record is directly created as an *Opportunity* in the CRM instead of being created as a *Lead first*.
Ideally, I expected a *Lead to be created first and then converted into an Opportunity later*. Why is the form creating an Opportunity directly, and what configuration might be causing this?

You could try going to the Sales Team responsible for your opportunity and verify configurations.
Go to CRM → Configuration → Sales Team → Select the related Sales Team → Check the Leads checkbox.
Sometimes the Lead option is not ticked in Sales Team and hence Lead directly goes to opportunity pipeline. But, this solution might show the website leads in the Lead section of CRM.

-There is no "Create a Lead" action in Odoo 18's website form builder. *Only "Create an Opportunity" exists - the label is cosmetic.*
