Dear everyone, 


In the calendar module, I would like to understand what is the difference between the button sync with Google that we can find at the top right of the page.

And the Google Calendar synchronisation which is explaned here ? https://www.odoo.com/documentation/saas-19.1/applications/productivity/calendar/google.html


Does it give the same functionnality ?

Hello,
Yes, configuration must be done first. Clicking the sync button without setting up the OAuth credentials in Settings will not work - it needs the Client ID & Secret to connect to Google's API.

Hello Léa Nicolleau,
I hope you are doing well

Same functionality. They're not two different features:
- Settings → Google Calendar setup = configures the OAuth connection (Client ID, Secret)
- Sync with Google button = triggers the sync using that connection

You set it up once via Settings, then the button lets you manually sync. A background cron also syncs  automatically after setup.
One is the configuration, the other is the trigger.

Thank you for your answer, so you need to configure the OAuth connection first and then you click on the button ?
Or if you only click on the button it is enough to create the connection ?
