Clean Processes for Clean Water – How the Odoo Implementation Helped ENFIDO Digitize and Optimize Its Processes

At a glance

ENFIDO GmbH, a German water treatment manufacturer, replaced its siloed legacy systems with Odoo Online to digitize its end-to-end processes. By adopting a pragmatic MVP approach, the company successfully managed a move to a new warehouse with 7,500+ digital storage locations. Key results include maximum delivery availability and process-driven workflows across Sales, MRP, and Logistics.

Enfido GmbH, based in Elchesheim-Illingen, specializes in the development and manufacture of custom water treatment systems, as well as in the supply of high-quality system components for plant manufacturers. The family-owned company, with over 40 years of industry experience, places great emphasis on personalized consulting, technical support on an equal footing, and long-term partnerships. The latter is only possible if high delivery availability, fast response times, and direct accessibility are guaranteed. However, growing operations and a new warehouse pushed the existing digital infrastructure to its limits.

When the sales pipeline springs a leak

ENFIDO GmbH has a decades-long track record of success. However, its internal processes had never been fully digitized during that time. The legacy system relied on a series of siloed solutions that were not fully integrated with one another.

The attempt to map processes holistically within the legacy infrastructure revealed further gaps in the defined workflows. This not only posed an obstacle to digitalization but also had a direct negative impact on data quality. For the successful implementation of the new software solution, it was therefore essential to scrutinize business processes, clean up master data, and establish a fundamental understanding of process-based work.

The secret to success: pragmatism and sound advice

As ENFIDO GmbH implemented Odoo, it quickly became clear to them that digital transformation is not merely a technical process. Ultimately, people are at the heart of it all. For employees to successfully use a platform and its associated processes on a daily basis, business needs must be identified and the implications assessed. Only then can technical solutions be found.

During this critical phase of implementation, Odoo business analysts provide companies with expert guidance. Working closely with the contact person at ENFIDO, all processes were thoroughly reviewed and subsequently mapped in Odoo. One lesson learned from this process was that pragmatism pays off. Instead of insisting on existing workflows and implementing them in Odoo with significant effort and custom development, processes were dynamically adapted, thereby achieving maximum efficiency in the implementation.

This was also necessary because ENFIDO had a strict deadline for implementation. The move to a new warehouse was imminent, and logistics were to be managed entirely through Odoo from day one. Thanks to Odoo’s modular structure, ENFIDO was able to launch with an MVP (Minimum Viable Product) for warehouse management, while other modules were seamlessly integrated later on.

In addition to accurately mapping inventory levels, Odoo’s Warehouse app allows for the configuration of specific storage locations and their corresponding capacities. With consulting support from Odoo’s business analyst, the system was set up and went live just in time for the move. Now that this logic has been set up once, all new incoming goods are automatically assigned to the appropriate storage locations. Employees then know where to place the product and can quickly locate it when an order is placed.

The result: Over 7,500 digitally managed storage locations

Thanks to expert guidance and Odoo’s modular structure, Enfido GmbH was able to successfully complete its move to the new warehouse. The newly implemented Odoo Warehouse app now allows for the precise management of over 7,500 storage locations. But the software transformation did more than just enable the warehouse upgrade.

Odoo maps end-to-end processes, and so ENFIDO GmbH used the implementation of its new digital infrastructure as an opportunity to review and restructure its existing workflows. This not only leads to sustainable digitalization but also helps employees organize their work more efficiently.

This makes it clear that digital transformation projects – when approached correctly – achieve more than just the installation of new software. With the right guidance and methodology, they have the potential to bring about fundamental change in a company’s structure – moving away from information gaps and ad hoc solutions and toward comprehensive data sets and process-driven workflows.
