I'm not sure if I got your point or not, but I did this kind of categorization to my blogs like this;

First you need to go to the Website→ Configuration → Blog Posts → Here you need to create new category by choosing it a title and sub title and save it → when posting a new blog you should consider the former category title you've created as your blog field and fill other fields as you wish... now you can see a menu bar over your blogs that by clicking them you are able to see those blogs with the same category.
