Is there any well established way of generating reports in editable formats in Odoo V8? I know that this was possible in previous version of OpenERP.

you say you know that is possible in previous version , could you tell me how can i do that in v 7 ?
Though I think RML reports are still supported by Odoo 8.0, in generate Odoo 8.0 had deprecated the RML reports in favour of QWeb-based report. AFAIK, unfortunately there is no Wysiwyg tools (like OpenOffice) for designing the QWeb report yet.
