I know its an old thread, but for anyone who is looking at a similar issue, all you need to do is set the currency rate under ACCOUNTING > CONFIGURATION> CURRENCIES> under rate at a new rate and set its date before your accounting entries your want the rate to apply. 

go back to your entry now and remove the figures and add again the calculation will be done automatically.
