In standard Odoo, the Margin option in Sales settings
In standard Odoo, the Margin option in Sales settings
(res.config.settings → group_show_sale_margin)
cannot be conditionally hidden based on Sales user groups
(Own Documents / All Documents / Administrator)
using only default access rights or Studio.
Reason:
- res.config.settings is company-level configuration
- It is not designed for per-user UI control
- Studio does not support group-based visibility
for configuration settings
What is possible in standard Odoo:
- Control margin visibility on Sales Orders using user groups
- Restrict who can see margins on documents
What is NOT possible without customization:
- Hiding the Margin setting itself in Sales configuration
based on Sales user roles
Recommended approach:
- Use default Sales groups to control margin visibility
on Sales Orders
- If hiding the setting is strictly required,
a small custom module is needed to inherit the view
and apply group-based visibility properly
