Hello Odoo Community,

We are facing an issue in Odoo 19 Inventory regarding quantity changes in Receipts / Delivery Orders.

Issue:

  • Initially, when we change the quantity, everything works fine and no popup appears .

  • After editing the quantity once, Odoo starts showing the “Open: Stock Moves” (Detailed Operations) popup.

  • From then on, the popup appears every time the quantity is changed , especially problematic when there are many items.

Setup:

  • Odoo 19

  • Inventory module

  • Storage Locations enabled

  • No lot/serial tracking

  • Users need to manually adjust quantities

Concern:

This behavior significantly slows down operations in fast-moving environments (eg, food / retail).

Questions:

  1. Is this expected behavior in Odoo 19?

  2. What triggers this popup after the first quantity change?

  3. Is there any configuration (without customization) to prevent this popup?

Thanks for the response.

Just to clarify, this is not a cart or frontend theme issue.

This occurs in Odoo 19 Inventory during partial receipt/delivery , where changing the quantity forces the Detailed Operations (Stock Moves) popup .

Is there any standard configuration in Odoo 19 to allow inline quantity edits for partial operations without triggering the popup , as in earlier behavior?

I Hope you are doing Great.

Yes, this is expected behavior in Odoo 19.

Why this happens

  • When you edit the quantity the first time, Odoo updates it directly on the stock move.

  • After that first edit, Odoo creates stock move lines (Detailed Operations) in the background.

  • Once move lines exist, any further quantity change must go through Detailed Operations, so Odoo automatically opens the “Open: Stock Moves” popup.

This happens even when:

  • No lot/serial tracking is enabled

  • Storage locations are enabled

  • Quantities are adjusted manually

What triggers the popup

The popup is triggered as soon as stock move lines are created, which usually happens:

  • After the first quantity edit

  • Or when locations are involved (source/destination split)

From that point onward, Odoo assumes line-level control is required, so it forces the Detailed Operations view.

Can this be disabled without customization?

No, there is no standard configuration in Odoo 19 to stop this popup once move lines exist.

This behavior is part of Odoo’s inventory control design to ensure data accuracy.

If required, we can help you with a custom solution to reduce or bypass this popup for faster operations.
