Business competition due to ecommerce forces us to be aware of competitors' prices. When these prices are available on the web: how would it be possible to capture them periodically inside OpenErp? And then match/compare with our own prices for a possible adjustment?(Amazon does it)
Is there a module doing this already or Would it require a comprehensive addon, - with a specific workflow - to be developped?
I do not know if there is an addon for doing that, and I think this problem should be solved by at least two addons. One of them records the competitors' prices in the database (I can think of a one2many relationship between products and competitors' prices). The other addon actually reads the competitor's homepage, and extracts the prices. That is doable, the thing is the routine that extracts the prices changes from website to website.
Right, the extracts change from site to site. but we need this for a very limited nr of competitors (url of their web site, merchant or not) which are of greatest interest for your own business; Search on each said web sites for the product whose selling price is needed Store the price + currency + competitor's name + date (search date) Repeat the previous step for each product Estimate the selling price in your own currency + sales' taxes (or customs duties, if any) + delivery costs Repeat the previous steps for any other competitor Compare with your own selling price Decide to change
If there are two shops who are competitors and both implement Openerp along with this functionality of Capturing sale prices, then it would be a unique situation :)
I didn't hear of any similar addon , but interesting idea , can be developed
