In my previous MRP's I always had locations that were not counted as available to sell called non nettable.  I have not been able to find a similar thing in Odoo.  I need to be able to take an inventory item and put it in a location that the system will not see it as sellable or usable in an MO.   Does this exist or have i just missed it.  TIA.

Hi Tony,

It should be as simple as creating a new location that is NOT under WH/Stock because that will be ignored for sales orders and manufacturing. You should not need to change any other configuration (even though AI might think that is required).

Hello,

Yes, this can be achieved in Odoo, although the system does not specifically use the term “non-nettable” locations.

A common approach is to create a separate internal location (such as Quarantine, Quality Hold, or Restricted Stock) and configure your routes/replenishment rules so inventory in that location is not considered available for sales or manufacturing consumption.

Depending on your exact workflow, this can often be handled through standard location and route configuration, though some cases may benefit from a small customization.

Hope this works for you! If you need any help implementing this or want a more optimized approach, feel free to reach out for further discussion.

Odoo does not have a concept called "non-nettable locations" by that exact name, but you can achieve the same result using location types and replenishment settings.

The closest equivalent is to create a dedicated internal location (for example, "Quarantine" or "Non-Available Stock") and set it up so that Odoo does not include it in forecasted or available quantities.

Here is how to do it:

Go to Inventory > Configuration > Locations and create a new internal location (e.g. "WH/Non-Nettable" or "WH/Quarantine").

On that location, enable the option "Scrap Location" if the stock should be completely excluded, or simply leave it as a regular internal location that you manage manually.

The key step is: in your replenishment rules and manufacturing orders, always specify the source location as your main stock location (e.g. WH/Stock), not this special location. Odoo calculates availability based on the source location defined on the operation type, so products sitting in a different location will not be considered.

For manufacturing orders specifically, go to Manufacturing > Configuration > Operations and make sure the "Components Location" points to WH/Stock. Any stock in your quarantine/non-nettable location will then be ignored by the MO availability check.

If you want to be extra careful, you can also restrict users from picking from that location by adjusting the stock operation types or by using putaway rules that direct products there only intentionally.

This approach is used by many Odoo users as a functional equivalent to the non-nettable location concept from other MRP systems.
