I am working on a custom payment module,I am able to add it to a payment method view, but I am not able to add it as a payment provider.I am referencing payment_demo  and payment_stripe module to understand implementation of this, but I am unable to find the solution.

The second image shows my payment module as payment method, but I cannot see in payment providers.

This is my payment_provider_data.xml view.Which I referenced form  payment_stripe

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<odoo noupdate="1">
    <record id="payment_method_esewa" model="payment.provider">
        <field name="code">esewa</field>
        <field name="state">test</field>
        <field name="is_published">True</field>
        <field name="inline_form_view_id" ref="inline_form"/>
        <field name="express_checkout_form_view_id" ref="express_checkout_form"/>
        <field name="allow_tokenization">True</field>
        <field name="allow_express_checkout">True</field>
    </record>
</odoo>

Hello Saksham,

Hello,

Your colleague is correct, and this is a standard mistake when creating a custom payment provider in Odoo.

Why your provider is not visible

Adding a record in payment.provider is not enough.

In Odoo:

  • Payment Method ≠ Payment Provider

  • A provider appears in the UI only if its code is registered in the model selection

Right now:

  • Your module adds a payment method

  • But the provider code = 'esewa' is not registered in payment.provider model

  • Hence it never appears in Payment Providers

Correct way to fix it (required step)

You must extend payment.provider and add your provider using selection_add.

Correct way to fix it (required step)Python (mandatory)

from odoo import fields, models class PaymentProvider(models.Model): _inherit = 'payment.provider' code = fields.Selection( selection_add=[('esewa', 'eSewa')], ondelete={'esewa': 'set default'} ) esewa_merchant_id = fields.Char( string='Merchant ID', required_if_provider='esewa' ) esewa_secret_key = fields.Char( string='Secret Key', required_if_provider='esewa' )

XML (corrected provider record)

<odoo noupdate="1"> <record id="payment_provider_esewa" model="payment.provider"> <field name="name">eSewa</field> <field name="code">esewa</field> <field name="state">disabled</field> <field name="sequence">10</field> </record> </odoo>

Hi,
To add your custom payment module as a payment provider in Odoo, you need to properly inherit the payment.provider model and extend its code selection field. In your models/payment_provider.py file, create a class that inherits payment.provider and adds 'esewa' to the code selection using selection_add

from odoo import fields, models

class PaymentProvider(models.Model):
    _inherit = 'payment.provider'

    code = fields.Selection(
        selection_add=[('esewa', 'eSewa')],
        ondelete={'esewa': 'set default'}
    )

    esewa_merchant_id = fields.Char(string='Merchant ID', required_if_provider='esewa')
    esewa_secret_key = fields.Char(string='Secret Key', required_if_provider='esewa')

Then in your data/payment_provider_data.xml, create the default provider record with proper naming

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<odoo noupdate="1">
    <record id="payment_provider_esewa" model="payment.provider">
        <field name="name">eSewa</field>
        <field name="code">esewa</field>
        <field name="state">disabled</field>
        <field name="sequence">10</field>
    </record>

</odoo>

Hope it helps
