Has anyone modified MRP to take into account maximum amounts of finished products than can be produced in a single run due to production constraints?

Example:

A company can only produce 1000 items at once. The scheduler determines 1,500 are needed.

What happens now:

One MO is created: MO1 - 1,500.

What I want to happen:

Two MO's are created: MO1 - 1,000 and then MO2 - 500.

Currently, users are manually duplicating MO's or manually changing the quantity down to the limit and letting the scheduler re-create what is outstanding as a giant MO that also then needs to be changed.
