Hello, I've been looking at other posts on this forum about this same problem, and the only one with a consistent solution is that the invoice title appears correctly without "proforma" when the invoice is sent to the client.
I understand this is an Odoo bug, since it's possible the invoice isn't sent and is only printed, and even then it doesn't work correctly. "Proforma" always appears in both the download and the preview, and if you do a bulk download from the invoice list, they all appear as "proforma."
I don't have anything enabled to generate proforma invoices, and yet it's still generating documents with the title "Proforma."
The steps I follow to create my invoices are as follows:
- Quote / Sales Order --- Create invoice.
- From Billing, create a new invoice directly.
No matter how I do it, it always displays a proforma invoice, whether paid or not, validated or a draft. It appears in the preview, the gear icon, and when selecting the PDF download and PDF without payment options.
The only place it doesn't appear is when I click the print button, but this is a problem. If I want to download all the invoices in bulk, I select the desired invoices from the list, click the Download button, and they all download with the title "Proforma," even though they aren't actually proformas.
The only way to prevent this from happening is once they are emailed to the client. Otherwise, the title will never change from "Proforma" to "Invoice," and this is a problem because many clients don't receive emails; they simply print the invoices or do nothing.
I hope someone has found a solution and can help me.

PS: This happens to me with all Odoo installations in version 18, and some only have the billing module, while others have it with the sales, purchasing, and invoicing modules as well.
I'm having the same issue and Odoo says it's standard practice, the workaround seems to print it (don't send) and then it's ok
